Subtitle timecode builder for SRT and WebVTT

If you already have caption text and timing, format them into an SRT or WebVTT sidecar. Enter each cue as start seconds, end seconds and text. This tool does not listen to audio, create a transcript or verify synchronization.

For: Creators and small teams who need a simple browser-based content workflow utility. Use it to: Turn supplied timings into SRT or WebVTT

A video timeline aligns two caption cards with timed notes and SRT/VTT file icons.

Format timed captions as a sidecar file

Enter one cue per line as start seconds | end seconds | caption. Choose SRT or WebVTT. Times round to the nearest millisecond; cues must be in start-time order and have an end after the start. Overlaps are flagged for review, not automatically resolved.

Supply your own timings in seconds. Times round to the nearest millisecond. The tool formats a sidecar file; it does not transcribe audio or check synchronization. WebVTT output escapes literal angle brackets and ampersands. Each input line produces one caption line.

Your entered text and selected files stay in your browser.

How to use this utility

  • Enter one line per cue: start seconds | end seconds | caption.
  • Keep cue start times in order and set a positive duration for each line.
  • Choose SubRip (.srt) or WebVTT (.vtt); review any overlap warning.
  • Copy or download the generated sidecar and check timing against your media in a suitable player.

Worked example

Output begins: WEBVTT (for WebVTT), then 00:00:00.000 --> 00:00:02.500 and the supplied first line. SRT uses comma milliseconds and numbered cues.

What it does and does not do

  • You supply all timing and text; the tool does not transcribe speech, infer timing or check synchronization against media.
  • Times are non-negative decimal seconds rounded to the nearest millisecond. Starts must be ordered. Overlaps produce a warning. One input line makes one caption line.
  • WebVTT output escapes &, < and >; SRT keeps text as entered. Review the exported file in your playback/editing workflow.
