Carousel review and handoff checklist for a finished draft

A draft can read well as a document and still fail as a sequence. This review sheet gives each card a job, checks every factual line against a source, and names the person or role responsible for the next handoff. It does not prescribe current platform limits; confirm the target placement’s current requirements in its own publishing workflow.

For: Editors and small teams reviewing an already drafted carousel before it moves to design or publishing. Use it to: Record each card’s purpose, factual source, crop check, alt description and next owner; return a concrete correction instead of a vague approval.

Two fictional colleagues calmly inspect abstract five-card carousel drafts beside a blank source checklist.

Captions to use or adapt

  • Rejected draft

Draft: “Everything you need for pottery class.” Review: rejected for revision. The promise is broader than the copy, the “everything” claim has no source, and the final card gives no practical next step.

  • Corrected card order

Fix: Card 1 names the specific task—“Prepare a pottery worktable.” Card 2 lists verified materials. Card 3 shows setup order. Card 4 notes the studio-specific detail to check. Card 5 links to the current class instructions.

  • Claim/source check

Card 2 says “The studio supplies an apron.” Reviewer asks for the current class list. If the owner confirms that fact, record the source and review date; if not, remove the sentence or change it to a question.

  • Crop and alt handoff

Card 3 contains a small tool at the frame edge. Designer previews the crop at the intended placement and keeps the tool visible. Writer’s alt text describes the board, tool and water bowl without repeating the entire caption.

  • Version handoff

Fictional handoff: v2 narrows “Everything you need” to “Prepare a pottery worktable” and adds the current class-instructions link on card 5. The editor asks the next reviewer to check those two changes, with the apron-source question still marked unresolved.

Copyable per-card review and signoff record

Use one row per card and one overall handoff block. “Pass” means the named check was performed for this draft version; it does not approve publication by itself.

CAROUSEL REVIEW
Draft name/version: [name / version] Target placement: [confirm current placement]
Reader task: [one sentence]
Copy owner: [role] Factual reviewer: [role]

CARD [number]
Card job: [opening / explain / evidence / qualification / close]
Exact claim or instruction: [copy]
Source and locator: [document / section / date]
Source owner checked it: [role / date]
Order makes sense after prior card: [yes / revision]
Image crop checked in intended placement: [yes / revision]
Alt description: [draft]
Text readable in preview: [yes / revision]
Change requested and reason: [specific change]
Status: [pass / revise / source needed]

OVERALL HANDOFF
Open corrections: [list]
Next owner: [role]
Version to review: [version]
Export file naming owner: [role]
Final destination confirmed by: [role]
Decision: [return for changes / ready for next review]

Worked fix: replace the unsupported “Everything you need” promise with the narrower verified task. Attach the current supply list, then assign card order and crop checks to named roles. No platform-specific limit is assumed.

A quick note

Make it fit your situation

Review the actual intended placement and current platform guidance before export.

Do not accept an unsupported statement because it appears on multiple cards.

Use named roles rather than inventing staff names or approval policies.

A checklist record documents the review; it does not trigger upload or publication.
